Overview

A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) reshapes the body by gently harvesting fat from areas such as the waist, back or abdomen with liposuction, purifying it and transferring it to the buttocks. In one procedure you gain a slimmer waist and a fuller, more balanced curve.

Some of the transferred fat is naturally reabsorbed in the first months; what remains is your own living tissue, which looks and feels natural. Planning therefore starts with whether you have enough donor fat and a realistic volume goal.

Safety is at the centre of this operation: fat is placed only in the subcutaneous layer, under ultrasound guidance and in controlled volumes, in line with international guidelines. Surgery is performed by our experienced plastic surgeons in an accredited partner hospital.

Techniques & options

Classic BBL

Fat is harvested with VASER or power-assisted liposuction, purified and transferred into the subcutaneous layer in small amounts from several angles, planning shape and volume together.

Ultrasound-guided safe BBL

The cannula position is monitored in real time with ultrasound during transfer, so fat is placed only in the safe layer. This is our team's standard protocol.

Combined plans

A BBL can be combined with a tummy tuck, HD liposuction or breast surgery in one body-contouring plan. Your surgeon sets safe limits for duration and volume.

How it works

  1. 1

    Online assessment

    You share photos from the front, side and back; your surgeon assesses donor areas and your goal shape, then prepares a personal preliminary plan.

  2. 2

    Arrival, examination and tests

    You are met at the airport and settled into your hotel. After a face-to-face examination, blood tests and an anaesthesia review, the areas are marked.

  3. 3

    Surgery day

    The 3–4 hour operation is performed under general anaesthesia. Your compression garment is fitted and you rest overnight in hospital under nurse supervision.

    Recovery at the hotel

    You rest on your side or front, using a BBL cushion and keeping pressure off the buttocks. Your coordinator schedules check-ins and lymphatic drainage.

  5. 5

    Final check and flight home

    On day 7–10 your surgeon reviews your healing and advises on flying and sitting. Online follow-up continues for 12 months in your Rebirth Panel.

Recovery timeline

  1. Days 1–3

    Rest

    You rest on your side or front in your garment and take short walks. Swelling, bruising and tenderness in the donor areas are expected.

  2. Weeks 1–2

    Recovering

    Walks grow longer, and a BBL cushion is used whenever you need to sit. Lymphatic drainage helps swelling settle.

  3. Week 3

    Social life

    Bruising largely fades; most people return to desk work and social plans with the help of a cushion.

  4. Weeks 6–8

    Active life

    Sitting directly and exercise resume gradually on your surgeon's advice. The garment is usually set aside around this time.

  5. Months 6–12

    Final shape

    The lasting portion of the transferred fat settles, swelling resolves and your new curve reaches its final form.

Is a BBL safe?
Like any surgery, a BBL carries risks, which are discussed openly at your consultation. The key to reducing them is placing fat only in the subcutaneous layer, under ultrasound guidance and in controlled volumes — the standard protocol our team follows.
How much of the transferred fat stays?
It varies from person to person, but typically 60–80% of the transferred fat remains. Reabsorption is complete within 3–6 months; what stays is your own tissue and can change with your weight.
How long can't I sit?
Avoiding direct sitting on the buttocks for the first 2–3 weeks is advised, using a BBL cushion when sitting is unavoidable. Your surgeon sets the exact duration and advice for your flight.
What if I don't have enough fat?
Where donor fat is limited, the target volume is planned accordingly or other options are discussed. At your online assessment, your surgeon shares a realistic expectation based on your photos.
Can I combine a BBL with another procedure?
Yes — it can be combined with a tummy tuck, HD liposuction or breast surgery. Your surgeon sets the total operating time and safe limits according to your general health.
